Rookie Guide to Texas Hold'Em

Rookie Guide to Texas Hold'Em
Texas Hold'Em is the most popular poker game being played today worldwide. Typically it is played with up to 10 players and a dealer that doesn't participate in the game. This style poker can be found in the Casino's, but the more casual games are a lot more flexible as each player takes turns at being the dealer.
Before an cards are dealt the first player to the dealer's immediate left has to place an ante bet that is one half of the minimum bet. This is known as the "small blind". The player to the left of the small blind, also known as the "big blind" has to place an ante bet which is the full amount of the table minimum. The posting of the blinds proceeds clockwise with each new hand being dealt. The blind bets is a way to build the pot for each hand.
Once the blind bets are placed, each player is dealt two card face down. These cards are know as hole cards. The betting begins with the third person to the left of the dealer. You want to bet accordingly to the strength of your hand. If you have a strong hand you should bet. If you have a weak hand you should fold.
Once the first round of bets are placed the dealer will then deal three cards face up. Then he will deal to more cards, one at a time with a round of bets taking place between the dealing of each card. After the last card is dealt the person with the biggest hand wins the pot.
Of course, this is just a quick summary of the Texas Hold'Em poker game. Once you gain experience you will be able to adapt your game to fit your style of play.
